Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - Domestic Tourism Paper.

Helen Keogh

Question:

45 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade whether he will make available to Opposition spokespersons on tourism and trade the domestic tourism paper prepared by a sub-committee of the Tourism Council; and if not, the reason therefor. [7489/96]

I refer the Deputy to the text of the comprehensive reply which I gave to Questions Nos. 45, 53, 56 and 227 on 27 February 1996 on the subject of domestic tourism marketing.

In that reply I stated that, since its establishment, the practice has been to regard papers produced for the Tourism Council as confidential to that body. However, in this instance the implementation of the recommendations of the domestic tourism paper are now the subject of consideration by a special working group chaired by the Minister of State in my Department and the question of confidentiality is therefore no longer an issue. In these circumstances and without prejudice to future papers produced for the Tourism Council, I can agree to the Deputy's request.
