Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - Remuneration of Non-Executive Directors.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

58 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the level of remuneration of the non-executive directors of boards, companies or agencies under the aegis of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6506/96]

The non-executive directors of the board of the Agency of Personal Services Overseas, which comes under the aegis of the Department of Foreign Affairs, do not receive any remuneration.

There are no non-executive director posts as such in the other agencies which come under the aegis of the Department of Foreign Affairs, namely the Refugee Agency, the Irish Aid Advisory Committee and the Cultural Relations Committee. The members of these boards or committees, including the chairpersons, serve in a voluntary capacity or, in the case of civil servants, as part of their official duties. They do not receive any remuneration for their involvement in these boards or committees.

There are no non-executive director posts in the only body under the aegis of the office of the Tánaiste — the National Economic and Social Forum. The forum has, however, an executive chairperson and two chairpersons of standing committees.
