Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - Roscommon Hospital Post.

Seán Doherty

Question:

66 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Health the position the post of second consultant surgeon for the County Hospital Roscommon has on the priority list submitted by the Western Health Board to his Department on 13 January 1994. [7327/96]

Limerick East): The Deputy will be aware from my previous response on this issue that the post of second consultant surgeon at the County Hospital, Roscommon, was the first priority identified for that county in the list referred to. However, while that list identified the consultant staffing priorities for each county, it did not indicate the ranking of these as overall priorities for the Western Health Board area.

The Deputy will also be aware from my previous answer that my Department had asked the board to review its requests in relation to additional consultant staff, including the possibility of recruiting the above mentioned consultant. My Department is currently awaiting the board's response.
