Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - High Voltage Pylons.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

99 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to amend the law regarding the siting of high voltage pylons near residential areas following the disturbing findings on the links between radioactivity and these installations. [7527/96]

The erection of these pylons requires planning permission in each particular case and is, therefore, a matter for decision by the relevant planning authority, or by An Bord Pleanála on appeal. Any questions in relation to the health aspects are for the Minister for Health and the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications.
