Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Louth National Schools.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

105 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay regarding an application by the board of management of the Monastery national school, Ardee, County Louth, to transfer a small portion of land to a third party where consent to transfer has been referred by her Department of Education to the Office of the Chief State Solicitor for advice; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7459/96]

The reason for the delay in processing this application was due to administrative difficulties associated with the move of the building section of my Department to Tullamore. The Chief State Solicitor has been instructed in the matter. On receipt of a reply from his office my Department will be in touch with the school board.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

106 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education the financial provision, if any, that will be made in 1996 to allow the building project at Tallanstown national school, County Louth, to proceed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7323/96]

The proposed extension to Tallanstown national school is included in my Department's 1995 capital building programme. The tender documentation for this project is currently being prepared. Due to the current level of contractual commitments on the primary school building programme it is not possible for my Department to allow this project to proceed to tender at this time. A decision on the timing of the tender process will be taken later in the year in the light of expenditure on existing contractual commitments. My Department will keep in touch with the school authorities in the matter.
