Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Waterford Corporation Funding.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

117 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment what amount of funding was made available to Waterford Corporation for each of the years from 1990 to 1995; the number of units involved in each case under the remedial works scheme; the amount of money drawn down by Waterford Corporation in respect of each of these years; the number of units covered by the amount drawn down; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8576/96]

Waterford Corporation were allocated £730,000 (£280,000 in 1994 and £450,000 in 1995) under the remedial works scheme. The total amount drawn down by the corporation was £500,000 (£280,000 in 1994 and £220,000 in 1995). This funding was in respect of the refurbishment of 26 houses in Trinity Square. The 1995 allocation included provision for projects in the St. John's, Suir River, Ballybricken and Holy Family areas of the city involving a total of 130 houses. In the event, expenditure did not arise on these projects during 1995. As the authority had no schemes under way in the years 1990 to 1993, allocations under the remedial works scheme were not made in these years.
