Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Patrol Cars.

Ivor Callely

Question:

160 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice when a Garda patrol car is unable to function due to mechanical problems, if a replacement car is made available when requested; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8714/96]

The allocation of Garda resources is the responsibility of the Garda authorities.

They have informed me that, as a general rule and subject to availability, a replacement car is normally provided, on request, when it is expected that the permanently allocated vehicle will not be available for operational work, including occasions when such vehicles are being serviced.
