Michael Finucane

Question:

167 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Justice whether the first application for registration for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick has been finalised; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8775/96]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that dealing No. P2094/93 is an application for first registration, which was lodged on 6 April 1993. I understand that, due to their complicated nature, these dealings can take some time to process.

The Registrar of Titles has informed me that the present position in relation to this dealing is that queries were issued by the Land Registry to the applicant's solicitor on 10 January 1996 and a reply is awaited to these queries. The application cannot proceed until these queries are fully dealt with.

I understand that the Deputy Registrar contacted the applicant's solicitors on 26 April 1996 in this regard and I can inform the Deputy that, on receipt of a reply to the queries issued, the matter will be expedited by the Land Registry.
