Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Appointee Age Limit.

Tony Killeen

Question:

191 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if an age limit applies for eligibility of appointees to State boards under his control. [8772/96]

In general, there is a maximum age of 70 for appointees to the boards of State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department. However, there was, exceptionally, a reappointment of a person over seventy years of age, on a short-term basis, to the board of Bord Fáilte on 1 April 1996 which will expire on 31 December 1996.
