Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Joe Walsh

Question:

201 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to have payment under the REP scheme made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [8447/96]

The application from the person concerned was the subject of a monitoring check and farm visit. A number of discrepancies were noted on the plan and these have now been corrected by the applicant's planner. Payment in this case will issue in the next few weeks.

John Ellis

Question:

202 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay a forestry grant due to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [8455/96]

The plantation was inspected on 19 June and 12 October 1995 and was found to be not up to grant standard. A further inspection was carried out on 29 April 1996 and the forest inspector has recommended that more remedial work should be undertaken before the second instalment of the grant can be approved.

The applicant will be informed of the remedial work required.

Michael Ring

Question:

203 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason his Department is not paying the second instalment of the REP scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the local Teagasc Office has confirmed that everything is in order. [8488/96]

The person concerned applied for his second year payment under the REP scheme. However, under revised monitoring and control procedures implemented by my Department recently, compliance checks are required to ensure that farmers have completed the specific works outlined during the first year of the plan before second year payments can be made.

This will lead to some delays, but I am seeking to ensure that these are minimised.
