This represents a very good performance on the part of the health boards and the financial controls that have been put into place by the Department of Health e.g. enhanced working capital arrangements, monthly expenditure-cash profiles and monthly reporting by the chief executive officer's on steps taken to eliminate any problems that arise.
These financial controls will be further enhanced by the introduction of accountability legislation which will be introduced shortly.
