Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Car Parking.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

91 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties in respect of car parking arrangements at Wexford General Hospital; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that there is space taken up in landscaping; if he will recommend to the South-Eastern Health Board the creation of more car parking spaces at the front of the hospital for safety reasons and to ensure clear passage for ambulances and doctors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8687/96]

, Limerick East): The provision of car parking at Wexford General Hospital is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I have made inquiries of the South-Eastern Health Board and I understand the board has recently received planning permission for an extra car park at the rear of the hospital which will initially contain 50 spaces with plans to expand this to 100 spaces in the medium-term. In the interim, I understand that a scheme to revamp the front car park is due to commence shortly, which project will create an additional 25 spaces.
