Vol. 464 No. 7

Written Answers. - Accident and Emergency Services.

Máirín Quill

Question:

11 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Health whether his Department has received a copy of proposals from the Southern Health Board in relation to the way in which accident and emergency services could be developed in this health board region; if so, the main provisions of the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8759/96]

, Limerick East): During 1995, the Southern Health Board decided that a working party should be established comprising representatives of each of the city hospitals, general practitioners and the ambulance service to review the organisation and management of the accident and emergency services in Cork.

The group met on a number of occasions under the chairmanship of Mr. Stephen Cusack, A & E Consultant of Cork University Hospital. I understand that the group has finalised its report on the matter and its recommendations are being examined by the board. I expect to receive a copy of the report within the next two months.
