30 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Health whether he intends to establish a contact register to assist adoptees, people who were fostered and children in residential care to make contact with their birth parents if they so wish; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8762/96]
, Limerick East): The establishment of a national contact register to assist adopted persons and birth parents who wish to re-estabish contact with one another is one of my priorities. The remit of the contact register is one of the issues under consideration in my Department. I also intend to examine the issue of access to birth records in the context of the contact register, the two issues being inter-related.
