Vol. 464 No. 7

Written Answers. - Paediatric Services.

Ivor Callely

Question:

66 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself that there is adequate and sufficient staffing personnel in respect of the provision of all services for paediatrics; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8821/96]

, Limerick East): The provision of paediatric services is a matter for each individual health agency in the first instance. Agencies are funded to enable them to carry out the functions they are expected to perform. Requests for additional staff are dealt with as sympathetically as possible in the context of indentified priorities and having regard to the many competing demands for resources for new and existing services.
