Question:41 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve an application (details supplied) by Kilkenny County Council for a grant under the village renewal scheme. [8981/96]
Written Answers. - Village Renewal Scheme.
Under the urban and village renewal sub-programme of the operational programme on local urban and rural development, grants are being made available to local authorities to carry out environmental upgrading works in towns and villages throughout the country. Kilkenny Councy Council was recently notified of its 1996 grant on the basis of the action plan which it had prepared and which includes proposals for improvements in the area referred to. The prioritising of works to be carried out each year under the action plan, which covers the period 1995 to 1999, is a matter for the council.
