Vol. 464 No. 8

Written Answers. - Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

57 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education, in view of the favourable impact on the lives of many citizens who participate in the vocational training opportunities scheme, if he will launch a new publicity campaign, including local radio and television, to encourage further participation in vocational training opportunities schemes. [8998/96]

As the vocational training opportunities scheme is delivered through the vocational educational committees, the decision on how best to publicise the scheme in each area is left to the individual vocational education committees. Many of them use the services of the local media for this purpose.

There is no perceived need for a national publicity campaign at this stage in view of the level of participation in the scheme.
