Vol. 464 No. 8

Written Answers. - Land Certificate.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

68 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Justice if she will expedite the issue of a land certificate for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath. [9006/96]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for a replacement land certificate. I understand that an application of this type involves lengthy inquiries including advertisements endeavouring to locate the original certificate, and can, therefore, take a considerable amount of time to process.

I am informed that it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist. Any such cases will be specifically considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the Registrar of Titles.
