Question:

124 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment the total revenue which accrued to his Department from driving test charges in 1995; the total cost of operating the driving test service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9287/96]

The overall cost of the driver testing service in 1995 is estimated at £3,296,000 while the fee income from tests was £3,369,000. The aim of operating the service on a self-financing basis has been achieved over the past three years.
