Vol. 465 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

145 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to sanction the charge in the catchment area of a school (details supplied) in County Louth in view of a request from the parents' association. [9166/96]

The pupils attending the school referred to by the Deputy reside outside the catchment area of that school and consequently, under existing transport regulations, do not have full transport entitlement to that school.

A written submission from the school parents' association has been received by the school transport review committee, which was established some time ago to carry out a comprehensive review of school transport services. One of the issues raised in the submission concerns the modification of the catchment boundaries in the area of the school in question.

I propose to consider whatever changes to, or development of, school transport services are required in the light of the recommendations of the review committee.
