Question:

161 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Justice if she will instruct the Garda authorities to provide extra manpower in the Laytown area of County Meath during the summer months. [9108/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 157 and 161 together.

The allocation of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas is the responsibility of the Garda authorities. They have informed me that following the allocation of one additional garda on 9 April 1996, the current strength at Laytown Garda Station is one sergeant and four gardaí

They have also informed me that the policing needs of the Laytown sub-district are under continual review and any adjustments necessary during the summer months will be made.
