Private Members' Business: Motion.

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders, the following arrangements shall apply in relation to Private Members' Business from Wednesday, 8th May, 1996, to Wednesday, 15th May, 1996, inclusive:

(1) the proceedings on the Second Stage of the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Landmines Bill, 1996, shall be brought to a conclusion at 8.30 p.m. tonight; and members shall be called on to speak in accordance with the following timetable:-

7.00 p.m.

7.30 p.m. Opposition

7.30 p.m.

7.50 p.m. Government

7.50 p.m.

8.10 p.m. Opposition

8.10 p.m.

8.20 p.m. Government

8.20 p.m.

8.30 p.m. Opposition

and

(2) the motion relating to the establishment of Regional Boards of Education shall be taken on Thursday, 9th May, 1996, from 12 noon to 1.30 p.m. and also in Private Members' time next week; the debate thereon shall not exceed four hours and 30 minutes; the proceedings thereon shall be brought to a conclusion at 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 15th May, 1996; and the member proposing, or such other member who has not already spoken as may be authorised in that behalf, shall be entitled to not less than 20 minutes for a speech in reply."
