Written Answers. - Correspondence to Minister.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

76 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Health whether he has received a letter from persons (details supplied) in County Donegal regarding the tragic death of a member of their family; if so, when he received such a letter; his views on the contents of the letter; when he intends to respond to the letter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9208/96]

Limerick East): A letter from a firm of solicitors acting on behalf of the persons referred to by the Deputy was received in my Department on 3 April 1996. The matter raised in the correspondence is a matter for the North-Western Health Board in the first instance and I have forwarded a copy of the correspondence to the health board. The health board has advised me that the matter in question has been referred to its solicitors who have been in contact with the solicitors for the persons referred to by the Deputy.

A reply to the letter referred to by the Deputy, outlining the position, has issued from my office to the correspondents in this matter.
