Question:

97 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will give a breakdown of the £6.65 million expenditure on national parks and nature reserves under the EU Operational Programme for Tourism 1994 to 1999; the locations in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9152/96]

A total of £6.65 million of structural funds has been allocated for National Parks and Nature Reserves under Measure 3 (Natural Environment) of Sub-Programme 1 (Natural/Cultural Tourism) in the 1994-1999 Operational Programme for Tourism.

The list of the six approved projects under this programme is as follows:—

1. Mayo National Park, £2.00 million; Provision of visitor facilities.

2. Provision/Improvement of Visitor Facilities at Nature Reserves and Conservation sites across the country, £2.3 million; The facilities range in scale from information or direction signs to improvements to paths and provision of small parking areas.

3. Clara Nature Reserve, £1.1 million; Provision of study/visitor facilities.

4. Glengarriff Nature Reserve, £0.4 million; Improvement of visitor information and facilities.

5. Lough Hyne Nature Reserve, £0.5 million; Provision of study/visitor facilities.
6. Doneraile Court. £0.35 million; Provision and improvement of visitor facilities.
