Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Unsolved Murder Case.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

190 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to a recent press conference held by the Ludlow/Sharkey family indicating that new information has come to hand in relation to the unsolved murder of a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if she will request the Garda Síochána to reopen the file in respect of this matter. [9652/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the murder in question was the subject of a full-scale Garda investigation but that, in spite of the efforts of the investigation team, nobody was made amenable and the Garda file remains open. The Garda authorities also inform me that they are not in possession of any fresh information in relation to the murder, but that they have arranged to meet with representatives of the family mentioned in the question in the light of their statement that new information has come into their possession. The Garda authorities assure me that any new information which may be available will be fully investigated.
