Vol. 465 No. 7

Written Answers. - Livestock Offal Disposal.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

115 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the plans, if any, he has to deal with the disposal of bonemeal and offal in view of the ending of the renderers subsidy. [10494/96]

Arrangements for the collection, treatment and disposal of livestock offal are a commercial matter to be determined between the parties directly involved, processors and the rendering industry which produces meat and bonemeal. The collection of offal and the processing of meat and bonemeal continues to function normally.
