Vol. 465 No. 7

Written Answers. - House Purchase.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

134 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Defence if he will give favourable consideration to a family (details supplied) in County Westmeath who wish to purchase their home. [10572/96]

It is proposed to offer the house in question for sale to the occupant under the terms of the married quarters purchase scheme currently operated by the Department. The terms of this scheme are similar to the current local authority tenant purchase scheme. The cost of the house will be the current open market value as advised by the Commissioner of Valuation subject to the discounts provided for under the scheme. The advise of the Commissioner of Valuation in this regard was recently sought and is awaited.
