Vol. 465 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Aid.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

54 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if a voluntary organisation (details supplied) in County Cork which assists parents and children with special needs is entitled to grant aid from his Department. [10555/96]

The provision of services to people with special needs in County Cork is, in the first instance, a matter for the Southern Health Board.

I understand from the board that the organisation concerned was recently established and received a grant of £200 from the board to facilitate its establishment. The most appropriate channel for this group to apply for funding in respect of their summer project would be through the respite care grants scheme which is administered by the health boards. It should apply to the Southern Health Board as soon as possible in order to enable its application to be considered under the 1996 scheme.
