Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Hugh Byrne

Question:

178 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a fire occurred in Clohamon national school, County Wexford in 1995; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that when an electrician examined the building after the fire he stated that the entire building necessitated rewiring; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that all works are complete and the school authorities are awaiting a grant from her Department in this regard; when the grant will be paid; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11503/96]

I am aware of the fire that occurred in Clohamon national school in 1995 and of the fact that the building required rewiring as a result of this fire. I am also aware that the works are complete. The relevant invoices have been referred to my Department's technical advisors for certification. On receipt of the required certification a grant will be sanctioned for the works carried out and arrangements made to pay the amount due. At this stage, I cannot give a definite date for payment of the grant.
