181 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education the reason increments and back money were given to some craft assistants in Limerick regional technical college and other applicants were not successful; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11519/96]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach)

Increments were awarded to four technicians by Limerick regional technical college as a result of an agreement with their union following the processing of a claim specifically on their behalf. As agreed with the union the settlement reached was exceptional and has no bearing on any other case.
