Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

206 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education if she will provide national lottery funding for a community-recreation centre at Deravoy national school, County Monaghan. [11729/96]

In general, school projects are not eligible for national lottery funding under either the recreational facilities scheme or the major facilities scheme. However, a limited number of school sports facilities have been assisted under the schemes where the project is being undertaken by a local community group in co-operation with a school. One of the conditions attaching to the scheme is that the completed facility must be available to all sectors of the community.

An application from the organisation in question could be considered in the context of the limited funds available and the many hundreds of applications from sport and community groups already on hand in my Department.
