Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Extradition Case.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

239 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the name, rank and duties of the garda who mislaid the original warrant in the Anthony Duncan extradition case; the station to which the garda was transferred; and his current duties. [11780/96]

The practice is not to name individual officers or to describe their duties in answering Dáil questions. I do not propose to depart from that practice.

As I said in my statement in the Dáil on 23 May, the officer has been transferred to other duties. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the duties are within the crime and security branch at Garda headquarters.
The allocation and transfer of gardaí within the provisions of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925, is entirely a matter for the Garda Commissioner.
