Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Draft Net Licence Query.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

304 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for the Marine whether a special draft net licence of £4 pertains to a strand (details supplied) in County Mayo. [11466/96]

In addition to the ordinary draft net salmon licences, the North Western Regional Fisheries Board issues special local draft net licences for the area in question under the terms of the Special Tidal Waters (Special Local Licences) Order, 1967, as amended.

Licence fees in both cases have been statutorily increased on a number of occasions over the years. The current fee payable for an ordinary draft net licence is £85. The current fee payable for a special local draft net licence is £114. The £4 licence referred to relates to the original fee for an ordinary draft net licence provided for in the Fisheries Consolidation Act, 1959.
