Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Mayo Centre Accommodation.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

108 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself with the current accommodation requirements of a centre (details supplied) in County Mayo for clients and staff; the proposals, if any, he has to have equality of treatment given to these clients comparable with other centres; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11499/96]

Limerick East): The Western Health Board is responsible for the delivery of health services in its functional area which includes County Mayo. I am informed by the board that the mental health day centre in Westport, County Mayo is currently accommodated in a temporary premises. The board considers this premises to be unsatisfactory in the medium and long-term. The development of more appropriate accommodation has been included as a top priority in the board's priority listing for community psychiatric services and the sector staff are at present looking at the availability of suitable sites in the area.
