Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Issuing of Birth Certificate.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

119 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for the speedy issue of a birth certificate to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath. [11745/96]

Limerick East): The administration of the registration system is a matter for the Registrar-General of Births and Deaths and for local registrars who operate under his general direction.

I am informed by the Registrar-General that an application for his authority to the late registration of the birth referred to by the Deputy was received by his office on 28 May 1996. The documentation furnished by the applicant was not complete and it has been necessary for his office to write to the person concerned seeking clarification. When the necessary information is received the application will be processed with due despatch.
