In accordance with the provisions of section 19 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1992 I may by regulations make such provision as I consider necessary or expedient for the purpose of ensuring the safety of fishing vessels and their crews. I will be reviewing the coverage of all fishing vessels on foot of the report of the Fishing Vessel Safety Review Group.
