Vol. 466 No. 7

Written Answers. - Educational Qualifications of Unemployed.

Joe Walsh

Question:

158 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will give the education breakdown of those persons on the long-term unemployed register; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12303/96]

Information is not sought or compiled on the educational qualifications of persons signing the live register.

Information in relation to the educational qualifications of unemployed persons is, however, contained in the Central Statistics Office publication "Overview of the Irish Labour Market" published in December 1995. Table 2.6 of the study provides a comparison of the qualifications of those at work and those who are unemployed.
