161 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of applications for the control of farm yard pollution scheme in counties Monaghan and Cavan; the number of approved applications; the number of applicants that have been paid; the number of applicants awaiting payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There have been 1,059 and 700 applications for the control of farm pollution scheme in respect of counties Cavan and Monaghan. Of these 575 and 437 have been fully processed with approvals issued in respect of 534 and 404 respectively. All the remaining applicants have been written to, in line with procedures introduced last September, and responses are awaited.

To date 139 payments have been made in County Cavan and 236 in County Monaghan where work has been satisfactorily completed and in line with the approval issued. A further 11 and eight respectively have been approved for payment on the basis that the grant will be paid in 1997.
