Vol. 466 No. 7

Written Answers. - Differential Rent Schemes.

Tony Gregory

Question:

97 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment the reason he has not replied to correspondence (details supplied) from the National Association of Tenants' Organisations dated 10 October 1995 and the remainders sent on 16 November 1995 and 20 February 1996; and his response to the resolutions contained therein as passed at the 29th Annual National Convention of the National Convention of the National Association of Tenants' Organisations. [12220/96]

A reply issued on 22 November last to the National Association of Tenants' Organisations letter of 10 October 1995, which was received via the office of the Minister for Social Welfare, concerning a resolution passed at their national convention regarding local authority differential rent schemes. There is no record of the receipt at that time of a second letter of the same date, as referred to by the Deputy, incorporating resolutions covering a range of issues including environmental, planning, financial and housing matters. There was a misunderstanding, which is regretted, in relation to subsequent correspondence from NATO relating to that second letter, in view of the reply which had already issued to their letter of the same date on the resolution dealing with rents.

The matters contained in the various resolutions referred to are now being examined, and a reply will issue to NATO as soon as possible.
