Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy McDaid — the current situation regarding the Churchill-Glendowan, County Donegal, water scheme; (2) Deputy Séamus Brennan — the decision of the Minister for Education to dispose of 11 acres of land zoned for educational purposes in Knocklyon, Dublin 16, which is required as a site for Knocklyon post-primary school; (3) Deputy Shortall — the problem of truck parking in residential areas; (4) Deputy Lynch — the effects on the work of FÁS community employment schemes of recent changes in the eligibility criteria for such schemes with particular reference to the many arts-based schemes currently in operation and the effects on the employment prospects of those working in the arts; (5) Deputy Seán Ryan — the safety of plastic tanks for the storage of heating oil and the regulations, if any, for the installation of such tanks; (6) Deputy Flaherty — the urgent need for a classroom assistant for St. Patrick's national school, Drumcondra, Dublin 9; (7) Deputy Ó Cuív — an tábhacht atá ann go gceadófar deontas láithreach do Chumann Peile na bPiarsach i Ros Muc, Contae na Gaillimhe, le cabhair a thabhairt páirc pheile a fhorbairt ar an nGort Mór, Ros Muc; (8) Deputy Kirk — the introduction in the United States House of Representatives of a Bill, the purpose of which is to develop a trade agreement with Northern Ireland and the six Border counties in this State; (9) Deputy Brendan Smith — the need for the immediate provision of a new fire station at Dowra, County Cavan; (10) Deputies Jacob and Tom Kitt — the need for immediate and urgent action in the case of Woodfab, Aughrim, County Wicklow, in view of the fact that 63 people have been made redundant in recent weeks and further redundancies are probable; (11) Deputy O'Dea — the need to implement the recommendations of the Law Reform Commission on the reorganisation of family law business in view of the imminent introduction of divorce legislation; (12) Deputy Martin — the need to clarify the way in which a serious error, which caused considerable frustration and upset to students, occurred in the higher level mathematics 2 paper in the 1996 leaving certificate examination and the way in which allowances will be made for students affected by this error; (13) Deputy Briscoe — the need for special centres of detention for persons on remand; (14) Deputy Hogan — the need for the Minister for Education to intervene immediately to prevent the termination of third level courses organised by Carlow regional technical college at Seville Lodge, Kilkenny, with a view to continuing the availability of third level education in Kilkenny and the participation rate of local students in such courses; (15) Deputy Raphael Burke — the urgent need for permanent additional classrooms for St. Colmcille's girls national school, Swords, County Dublin; (16) Deputy Keogh — the allowances which will be made for students who sat the leaving certificate higher level mathematics examination in which an error was discovered, the systems which are in place to identify errors and the reason this error was not identified; (17) Deputy Joe Walsh — the hardship caused to small milk producers because of recent changes in the mode of operation of the temporary milk leasing scheme; (18) Deputy Leonard — the alarming increase in the rate of unemployment in the Monaghan constituency as indicated by recent live register figures.

The matters raised by Deputies Martin, O'Dea, Jacob and Tom Kitt and Joe Walsh have been selected for discussion.
