Vol. 467 No. 2

Written Answers. - Extradition Copy Documents.

Brian Cowen

Question:

43 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Justice whether the copy documents that she received from the Garda Síochána in the recent Anthony Duncan extradition case on the night and morning of 12 and 13 April 1996, were a complete set including a double-sided copy of the warrant; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11826/96]

As I already indicated in response to questions following my statement to the House on 23 May 1996, the Department of Justice received a full set of documents from the Garda authorities on the night of 12 April 1996. These documents did not include a double sided copy of the warrant because the documents were faxed to the Department and the resulting fax copies could not be double sided. This set of faxed documents was complete and included a fax copy of the full text that, in the normal course, appears on the reverse side of a warrant.
