Vol. 467 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Denis Foley

Question:

102 Mr. Foley asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total national lottery funds allocated to and spent in the social welfare area in respect of each calendar year since the national lottery was established. [13704/96]

The following Table 1 sets out the amount of lottery funding disbursed by my Department under the various grants of support for voluntary and community organisations for each of the years 1988 to 1995 and the allocation for 1996. For the sake of completeness, I have also given details of the allocations for the grant schemes that were not lottery funded in the years in question in that table.

The lottery funds allocated to my Department have been used to fund a number of schemes of grants and other supports to voluntary and community organisations.
As there were a very large number of individual grants under the various schemes in the years in question, I do not propose to circulate the details with this reply. Details of all grants paid since 1990 are in the Oireachtas Library for the information of Members.
The amounts shown under the community development programme as the 1996 allocations are provisional. Payments to projects participating in the programme are made on a quarterly basis and depend on continued progress on the implementation of the agreed workplan and receipt of accounts and returns for payments previously issued.
