Vol. 467 No. 5

Written Answers. - Employment Support Initiatives.

Ivor Callely

Question:

114 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the success or otherwise of the recent measures introduced to help curb the increase in unemployment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12083/96]

It is too early yet to evaluate the impact of the employment support initiatives announced in this year's budget, given that the new criteria for community employment only came into operation in the middle of April and Work-Place and Jobstart were only launched at the end of May. However, I would like to assure the Deputy that these initiatives will be monitored on an ongoing basis in order to gauge their impact.
