Question:77 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Education the per capita expenditure by his Department on vocational education for each county from 1990 to the latest date for which figures are available. [13687/96]

My Department is not in a position to provide the information requested by the Deputy because of the inordinate amount of time that would be involved in the compilation of the financial and statistical data involved. The Deputy will be aware that Vocational Education Committees are funded on a budget basis having regard to the range of services and programmes provided, the number of schools and students, the pay costs of approved academic and non-academic staff and special needs which may emerge from time to time.
