Vol. 468 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin 13 School.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

127 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education if she will make an extra teacher available to a primary school (details supplied) in Dublin 13 for the 1996-97 academic year in view of the special difficulties being faced by parents of siblings where one child is already in this school and another child is denied entry. [14918/96]

The staffing of a national school for a particular year is determined by the enrolment of the school on 30 September of the previous year.

The enrolment of the school referred to by the Deputy on 30 September 1995 was 387 pupils. This enrolment warrants a staffing of principal and 12 assistant teachers for the 1996-97 school year.

This school, which operates a specific enrolment policy, could qualify for an extra post in September 1996 if it achieves developing school status. In order to attain such status, the school's enrolment in September 1996 must increase by a minimum of 30 pupils relative to the school's enrolment on 30 September 1995.
