Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Shortall — the problem of truck parking in residential areas; (2) Deputy Seán Ryan — the safety of plastic tanks for the storage of heating oil and the regulations, if any, for the installation of such tanks; (3) Deputy Seán Kenny — the inordinate delay by Fingal County Council in making a special amenity area order for the high amenity area of the East Mountain, Howth, County Dublin and whether the Minister can make this order; (4) Deputy Broughan — the urgent need to protect the natural amenity of the East Mountain, Howth, County Dublin; (5) Deputy McGrath — the serious concerns of parents and teachers regarding the threatened reductions in teaching staff in 300 primary schools; (6) Deputy Dan Wallace — the urgent need to proceed with the building of Glanmire Community College in Cork; (7) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the urgent need to provide a psychologist and psychiatrist for adolescents at University Hospital, Cork, in view of the fact that a teenage girl cannot obtain appropriate treatment in the hospital; (8) Deputy Michael Ahern — the failure of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, to remove the serious inequity occasioned by the non-inclusion of peas for dehydration for area aid which threatens the continued growth and development of a company (details supplied) in County Cork; (9) Deputy Ó Cuív — the policy of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, on the social and economic importance of access for peripheral regions to efficient and competitive telecommunications services; (10) Deputy Michael Smith — the need for the Minister for Health to take immediate steps to reduce the large backlog of patients awaiting treatment at Croom Orthopaedic Hospital, County Limerick; (11) Deputy Joe Walsh — the employment of full-time customs and excise personnel at Castletownbere, County Cork, to prevent illegal imports, including imports of drugs.

The matters raised by Deputies Joe Walsh, Michael Smith, McGrath and Dan Wallace have been selected for discussion.
