Vol. 468 No. 2

Written Answers. - Trudder House Inquiry.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

73 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health the current position with regard to the inquiry into Trudder House. [14780/96]

There is no formal inquiry into allegations of abuse of residents at the Trudder House residential centre for young travellers which was formerly located at Newtown-mountkennedy, County Wicklow and has now been relocated to Ballyowen Meadows.

The Garda carried out an investigation into the allegations and I understand prosecutions are now pending. The Eastern Health Board is conducting an investigation into allegations of abuse concerning individuals who were resident in Trudder House.
