Limerick East): The collaborative study group on medical manpower in acute hospitals comprising representatives of the Department of Health, Comhairle na n-Ospidéal and the Postgraduate Medical and Dental Board produced a discussion document on medical manpower in acute hospitals in March 1993. As part of the ongoing consideration of medical manpower in acute hospitals initiated by the collaborative study group, a consultative conference was held in March of this year to discuss medical manpower in acute hospitals. My Department is at present reviewing the outcome of the conference in the context of developing a strategy to gain the support of the medical profession and other interested parties for an agreed way forward.
