Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Breast Screening Clinic.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

244 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Health if reports of the holiday closure of the Breast Screening Clinic at the Mater Hospital, Dublin 7, are correct; and if so, the steps, if any, he will take to prevent a recurrence of this distressing situation for so many women. [15933/96]

Limerick East): I understand from the Mater Hospital that mammography investigations are carried out by the breast screening unit. Most of the staff in this area work on a part-time basis. I understand that the unit has closed for four weeks to coincide with holidays and alternative cover for mammography investigations is being provided until the unit re-opens.
