Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - MRBI Surveys.

Michael Woods

Question:

263 Dr. Woods asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the total cost of surveys undertaken by the MRBI for his Department since January 1995; the number of such surveys undertaken; the costs incurred in respect of each survey; and the surveys, if any, which included a questionnaire to ascertain the level of support for political parties. [14932/96]

The MRBI undertook three surveys on behalf of my Department in the period since January 1995 at a total cost of £41,745. The surveys were conducted in March, October and November 1995 for the purpose and ascertaining public attitudes to divorce.

As is normal MRBI practice, each survey contained classification questions to enable the divorce data to be more effectively cross-analysed. The data was cross-analysed by responses to questions in each of the surveys on demographic factors, party support and referendum voting intentions. The cost each of the surveys undertaken its as follows: Market Research Opinion Survey, March 1995, £18,150; Divorce Campaign Research Monitor, October 1995, £11,797.50; Divorce Campaign Research Monitor, November 1995, £11,797.50.
